4 Cylinder BMWs
[back][home][e-mail]
I'm not proud...I love four cylinder BMWs, the 318i/is/ti, the 2002, the E30 M3. I'm not quite sure what it is...it certainly isn't the norm for car enthusiasts. Maybe its because of the light weight, or the high revs, or the nimble feeling, but I think that I will always own four cylinder BMWs.
Unfortunately, I think there is a certain tendancy on the part of other BMW owners to look down on the 4-cylinder models. They are considered by many to be "lesser" cars, purchased by individuals who couldn't afford a 325. Now, I will admit that my car doesn't have a whole bunch of torque, but that is something I overcome by taking full advantage of its free-spirited, high revving engine. Who cares if I have to shift more, it just makes me a more skilled driver. The point is that regardless of price or cylinder count, all BMWs share the same heritage. They offer the same delightful tactile sensations and driving pleasure. I would submit that those who "disapprove" of the 318 are really just not competent to drive it. Its not that their cars are better, they just don't have the skills.
Having said that, I'd like to hear from some BMW owners about this. Am I alone in my preferences? Scroll to the bottom of the page to participate in my BMW discussion, or send me e-mail.
