The basement is partially finished. One side is laundry/work bench/utilities and the other side has a new, commercial grade carpet. This was my rehearsal/studio area, but most people would use it as a TV or play room. There are nice big closets on one wall and we brought the extra kitchen cabinets (from our renovation) down here so there's even more storage.
Washer and dryer will stay with the house. Furnace and water heater are both brand new. Basement is walkout. If you're not familiar with Chappaqua, then you probably don't know that it's like living in the jungle. On the whole, Chappaqua, is a low lying, wet town. You will want to run a dehumidifier down here all summer. There are water stains on some of the ceiling tiles, but they are the same ones that were there when we brought the house. They have not gotten bigger and they are not wet to the touch. We lived through some torrential rain, but never had water in the basement. Then we ripped up all the shrubs and left the front ungraded for one night and of course it rained hard for several hours and water got into the basement. We built a small retaining wall and regraded the dirt away from the house. Since then it has rained just has hard on several occasions and we've stayed dry. | ||
